The 1 day Kampala city tour shall enable you witness several tourist attractions within Kampala. Kampala is the capital city of Uganda. The name Kampala is believed to have originated from the impalas- they were many impalas in the area where the city now sits and the people decided to name the city, ka-mpala or Kampala. The city has a population of over 1.5million people. This 1 day tour shall involve walking and driving at the same time. This safari is a full day safari however a half day tour in Kampala can be organized.
Kampala has got accommodation facilities for all sorts of travellers from budget to luxury hotels. Most hotels serve delicious continental and African local dishes.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked from your hotel by our tour guide and you shall start your Kampala city tour. The tour will start by visiting the either Nakasero or Owino Market. These two local markets are biggest markets in the city where the city dwellers buy food items. You shall witness several traders selling different food items. Uganda is a tropical nation that is blessed with so many food crops. The food stuffs are mostly seasonal. The traders buy local produce at wholesale prices and later sell them in other local markets. Uganda is famous for bananas- all the various types of bananas are available in the country-from the sweet plantains which you won’t easily find in other countries to several other banana species.
Afterwards, you will continue your journey to visit the religious places within the city. The Gaddafi mosque which was constructed by the Late Libyan president- Gaddafi is the largest mosque in the country. At the mosque, you will have breathtaking views of Kampala’s central business district. Other religious places to visit include Namirembe cathedral and Lubaga cathedral.
Kampala is situated in the central part of the country. The area is under the kingship of Buganda who is called the Kabaka. During this day, you will take a trip to Kabaka’s palace in Mengo, you will later visit the Kabaka’s man- made lake, the largest man-made lake in Uganda which was dug by the kabaka. Later, you will visit the Kasubi tombs where the kings of Buganda are buried.
Lunch will be served in one of fancy restaurants in town.
In the late afternoon, you will take a tour to the Uganda Museum to take a historical tour of Uganda. In the evening, you will visit one of the crafts market in Kampala to buy some locally made Tshirts, shoes, and other items as souvenirs. In the evening, you will be transferred back to your hotel. It should be noted that we are flexible when organizing Kampala tours, most tourists prefer that certain tourists’ attractions are added or removed and we shall do as per their request. This tour is possible for tourists who have at least 3 hours within Kampala.
